As website designers in Cornwall, we have worked with many companies whose business model is somehow related to – directly or, as a consequence of – the mining industries and heritage of the region.
We were delighted then, when Datson Consulting – a well respected civil, structural and mining engineering consultancy practice approached our stand at 2017’s “Celebration of Cornish Mining” at Heartlands – part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site.
They’d seen some of our work in the sector and wanted to partner with a company that could update their ageing website and provide ongoing server side and regular IT support. Naturally, we were delighted to help. It was pretty clear that some of the company’s key income streams derive from their mining & structural survey services.
We talk about our “digital strategy services” – at its core that means not just delivering an IT solution – but understanding the business so the digital product adds real value.
Datson Consulting’s business depends on active site inspections so they’re out of the office a lot – often fielding calls from new clients or new jobs on the road.
By understanding their workflow & practices, we quickly came to realise that even something as (relatively) straightforward as a well designed online form that they could direct folks to would save both the business and their clients a lot of unnecessary paperwork and calls. Combining this with an introduction to social media and a fully responsive website has already generated some new business.
As with every client, our free website training package also means that Datson Consulting can keep their key site content up to date themselves and not incur additional charges for unnecessary IT support.
We originally asked Dave & his team at SeaDogIT if they could design a new website. In particular we wanted something we could easily edit plus a new way for our clients instructing our company direct from the website. They could not have been more accommodating & after first agreeing a fee scale (which they kept to) they held regular meetings with us to clarify the brief and then undertake the work.
After about two months, with regular updates from them, we had a new look site with all the features we wanted and more including "FaceBook" and "Twitter" feeds. We have also agreed a hosting service as a maintenance vehicle. It has been a pleasure working with SeaDogIT & they have provided a local and seamless service which we would recommend to any small or larger business.
