Another Digital Transformation For A Local Council
We were delighted to secure the commission to build a new website, secure email system and integrated social media presence for St. Minver Highlands Parish Council – a parish largely located in a beautiful location on the North Cornwall coast.
Their existing site was hard to manage, disorganised and didn’t do justice to the work of this progressive council. Part of the brief made it clear that they needed a site that would not only function more effectively in communicating the Council’s work, but would also help to “show off” the Parish, a popular tourist destination, especially during the Summer months.
We took them through the registration process to secure their .gov.uk domain – the most suitable choice for Parish Councils in their role as the first tier of local government. We advised and set them up with a secure email solution for all the councillors that worked well via accompanying apps for their mobile phones. Until we stepped in, they had been using personal email systems that could pose problematical e-security issues.
Our familiarity and experience with Parish & Town Council clients also meant we were able to take advantage of the new build to incorporate accessibility testing and assist with a policy to meet the “Public Sector Bodies Websites and Mobile Applications No. 2 Accessibility Regulations 2018”. For good measure, as they didn’t have a logo, badge or crest, we created a simple logo that they are now using across all their digital platforms.
Many years ago, we got into the business of helping local councils navigate through the digital desert they had found themselves in as our Director was so fed up with his own council’s inability to supply any useful information online. If your local Parish or Town Council’s website is driving you mad – please let us know – that mission to bring affordable, professional web solutions to local government bodies continues!
