Working From Home? Stay Sensible, Stay Secure!
Warning – this message contains some advice – “not another tip” we can hear you saying – but bear with us. We understand the WFH (Work From Home) phenomenon is new for many of you. We too are enjoying the Zoom / Skype / Hangout video streams featuring eclectic bookshelf collections, pets & errant children – often all in the same feed.
We’re also seeing some high-res screenshots posted here (and on the usual social media sites) of quite amazing desktop set-ups. Who would have thought you could get a monitor that size into such a small space – an how many of them too! Frankly, we’re a little bit jealous …
… in some cases, however, we’ve been able to read email addresses, internal staff and client names and some potentially compromising “Subject:” headers. We get scam calls everyday – some of them from chillingly well informed fraudsters.
It’s easy enough for the bad guys (& girls) to profile you already. Don’t make their job easier. So post away with the home office shots to your heart’s content – but if you’ve a screen in view, switch off the email clients, apps and programs, & switch on the screensavers before you snap and post.
Stay home, stay safe & protect the NHS / HSE.
